The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is much more than a military test. It serves as a comprehensive career exploration assessment, helping students identify strengths, aptitudes, and potential career pathways. After testing, students will complete the "Find Your Interests" (FYI) inventory and use the results to connect personal interests with career options. This tool is valuable for all students, whether or not they are considering military service.
College Board Testing Opportunities
Chadron High School will also be offering the SAT® School Day, PSAT/NMSQT®, PSAT™ 10, and PSAT™ 8/9.
-
Cost: $18 per student
-
Registration: Students must sign up in the main office
These exams provide excellent preparation and advantages for college-bound students:
-
SAT® School Day: Gives students the opportunity to take the SAT, a widely recognized college admission test, during the school day without the need for weekend travel. Strong scores can enhance college applications and scholarship opportunities.
-
PSAT/NMSQT®: Taken primarily by juniors, this test is the qualifying exam for the prestigious National Merit Scholarship Program. In addition, it provides a practice experience for the SAT and helps students assess college readiness.
-
PSAT™ 10: Designed for sophomores, this test allows students to practice for the SAT and receive feedback on strengths and areas for improvement early in high school.
-
PSAT™ 8/9: Tailored for freshmen, this assessment sets a strong academic foundation by identifying skills students are developing and areas that may need attention as they begin high school.
Why These Tests Matter
