New Social Studies Standards

What do you think our students should know about social studies?  The Nebraska Department of Education has released a draft of the Nebraska Social Studies Standards and would love to hear from you!  The standards provide the framework for what students are expected to know about social studies, and your feedback will help make improvements to the standards before they are adopted.  The survey should take less than ten minutes to complete for each grade level selected.    To complete the survey, use this link:

CMS Spring Assessment Schedule

Parents,

Below is the spring assessment schedule for CMS. As you can see, I tried not to schedule testing on Mondays and Fridays in an effort to improve student attendance during these assessments. Here are a few things that parents can do to help their children do well on these tests:

Stand Up For Yourself - Training Classes

Would you like to learn how to stand up for yourself in uncomfortable or intimidating situations?
Do you want to increase your skills in setting boundaries and responding effectively to verbal or physical aggression?

Come join 88Tactical in the Chadron Primary School gym and learn how to STAND UP FOR YOURSELF!

NO SCHOOL (Wednesday March 13th and Thursday March 14th)

DUE TO BLIZZARD WARNING:
NO SCHOOL WEDNESDAY MARCH 13TH OR THURSDAY MARCH 14TH

In the Moment More, On Your Phone Less!

The health topic this month may be geared more towards older students, but it is an important and timely topic - Screen Time.

2019 Read Across America Day

CMS 8th graders participated in Read Across America Day by reading to children at the Child Development Center, Head Start and the Chadron Primary School.

Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that call for every child in every community to celebrate reading on Mach 2, the birthday of the children's author, Dr. Seuss (http://www.nea.org/grants/read-across-america-faq.html).

Regular Start Time @ CMS on 3/1

Both CMS boiler pumps are working and classroom temps are between 68 and 72 degrees. We have ASP today and a regular 8 AM start tomorrow.

CMS: 2-Hour Late Start and Modified Schedule for 2/28 and 3/1

Dear Parents,
We cancelled school today because when I checked classrooms early this morning, the building was about 40 degrees. We needed the day to plan an alternate schedule and to procure space heaters for classrooms. The second pump should be here on Friday, so hopefully things will be back to normal next week. Thank you for your understanding and support.

2/27/19 NO SCHOOL at CMS

CMS has cancelled school on 2/27 due to heat issues in the building. All other buildings will start at the regular time.

Building Temp at CMS

Dear Parents,

One of the boiler pumps at Chadron Middle School failed sometime during the evening or early morning on 2/25. The other pump is working, so there is some heat is being provided to the rooms with most classrooms temperatures between 58-68 degrees. That said, the building is cold.
